Ten Minute Tuesday: Writing Prompts

This week is some good old fashioned writing prompts. You can answer truthfully like in a journal or make up a story, creating a work of fiction or poetry. Here is the catch, no matter which one you decide to do, you have to write for ten minutes straight. No going back. No erasing or editing as you go. Just keep the pen moving or your fingertips on the keyboard moving.

This total stream of consciousness writing takes the filters off and allows are mind to wander around in places it might not if we had certain restrictions in place. Anything can pop out when doing this kind of free writing but let it all flow out.
My recommendation is that when you are done, you don’t reread it right away. Put it away for a whole week, and savor the completion of just getting 10 minutes of creative energy done. In a week, come back to it. Read what you wrote. Was it what you thought it would be?
Here are 5 Prompts to get you started:

  1. I remember when…
  2. I overheard…
  3. Last time I went shopping I saw…
  4. I knew I messed up…
  5. The first thing I did today…

How did it go? Try just one a day for a week. Let me know how it all went. Thanks for writing.
