Photo transfers to wood: I LOVE LOVE LOVE this project. I have done it a few times now. I thoroughly enjoy the results of the rustic look of the picture on wood. I am keeping the post simple. Several pictures with instructions under each one. Now you can follow this easy step by step tutorial of transferring awesome photo’s to wood.
I picked up these pieces of wood for pretty cheap at JoAnn’s. They were only a couple of dollars each.
My selection of pictures. These are all printed on photo paper. I was asked today if you could use other types of paper. To be honest I haven’t tried it but I don’t think so.
Collage Pauge is similar to Mod Podge. I Love the how well it works.
Here is my first picture that I decided on.
First put a nice layer of whatever kind of pauge you are using. Then lay your picture facedown evenly into the wet pauge. I like to smooth it out a bit but the next step will also help with that.
The next step is to use your brush to thoroughly cover the back and edges of your photo. Then let it set for about two hours or until dry.
Next, using a damp cloth, start rubbing the paper. As it gets wet, it will start to rub off and peel away. DO NOT PEEL from the edges as it will pull the image off. I have made that mistake previously. This part of the process requires a gentle hand and patience.
Nearly done. At this stages rub a little with the damp cloth and then use my fingers to gently rub away the last bits of paper off.
Two pictures done. A successful crafting morning. I hope you try it out with one of your photo’s. GOOD LUCK!
